Based on the survey and house visitations of the Ground Functionaries i.e., the Multipurpose Rehabilitation Workers and Community Based Rehabilitation Workers (MRWs & CBRWs), reports are submitted to the respective District Social Welfare Officers on the need of disability assessment in the surveyed villages & blocks.
The State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Shillong, with the synergic collaboration of the District Social Welfare Officers and the MRWs & CBRWs, organizes camps aided by the team of Specialist Doctors, paramedical staff and DRCDA/UDID Staff at designated locations in all the 46 blocks of the State. Specialist Doctors & paramedical staff from the following departments (a) Orthopedics, (b) Ophthalmology, (c) Psychiatry and (d)Otolaryngology/ENT, cater therapeutic/rehabilitation services through disability assessment camps to the people of these areas. PwDs attending these camps are then given the UDID Disability Certificate & Card generated by the District UDID Offices, SRCDA, Shillong.
This benevolent model of holding Assessment Camps at the block level is highlighted by the organizational structure below:
